I have so many friends who would identify as friendly enemies in reality. They all are either interested in toppling my social status or they are interested in all my assets and properties. I, on the other hand, have no such delusions about them, fortunately. Is there nothing like a friend? Are they all enemies in reality? I would not like to think so because so many friends, both male and female, are only interested in my wellbeing, but I may be dead wrong about that assumption in all probability. In Hindu philosophy, the case for singularity is a strong and undisputed truth that most really pious people have proven to be true time and again repeatedly. In the Mahabharat and the Ramayan, the case for the proof of singularity shines through rather undisputedly. The Mahabharat proved that no human can be trusted entirely- the Ramayan reinforced that truth when Lord Ram was banished away from his own kingdom by his own family.
In both duality and non-duality, the Guru is the closest to a friend that the seeker might have to follow undoubtedly. But the role of the Guru is not a permanent identification for the student to follow in all likelihood potentially. After the last few steps left in his ascension, a seeker has to carry out his duties, his life and his religious practice singularly. Most sages in Hindu ideology had wives and students historically- but that training has lost its sheen even as Kalyug progresses unabatedly. But a seeker who is also a householder will never be able to achieve that most divine status of non-duality. In Hinduism, only king Janak was able to achieve that distinction in the past records of Hindu theology, and the fact remains that no human being will and can alter the past, the present and the future of everything that has been documented in the texts of Hindu authority. There will never be a second king Janak, there will only be religious saints and sages, and the past, present and the future have all been documented before- no one can alter that in all the cycles of time and space of the universe undoubtedly.
All this proves that the fate of every human being has already been preordained in the past- this goes on to prove that destiny is the ultimate truth that every person has to resign himself to even with the most uncertainty.
Any single individual who tries to free himself from the bonds of karma or destiny will find it impossible to do so, and if with the blessings of the Lord, such a feat is duly achieved by him, then the whole of creation will follow him or her to become Self realized and one with the Lord Almighty.
So, there is the truth that a householder has to lead his life in duality dutifully, and the path of seeking has to be undertaken only by a single person after losing all kinds of dual relationships in all sincerity. The householder may have to renounce his family and assets if he has to become one with his God in the final outcome realistically.
