As you all know, I am deeply into Hindu philosophy, and I never lose any chance I get to visit any holy site that is popular and frequently visited.
In the month of December, I visited the city of Prayagraj and stayed back in Chinmaya Mission’s old age home for 5 days. This was just before the Mahakumbh event scheduled for the months of January and February.
I was really happy with my visit, the old age home was a dream place to be. It has a beautiful Shiv Temple. The meals were great and Satvik, and I would love to go back once more, but the place is shutting down because of some administrative reasons.
I had hired a local ‘rikshaw’ and the driver was really helpful and wonderful-
These are memories that last a lifetime, so my readers can join in my celebrations too.
If you are on a shoestring budget, the train services are really great to take- prompt, sharp and just a little dirty. Prayagraj is where the 2 greatest rivers for Hindus meet- the Ganga and the Jamuna, a dip in them both is considered especially holy.
The food in the old age home was really tasty and so was their daily tea. Previously, old aged people could go and settle there once they were in their sixties. But now, all of that is a thing of the past, and the place has shut down forever most tragically.
I am really happy to share my experience with my readers, so please join in..
