Most of our temple complexes used to be business hubs but now they are just very badly maintained horribly- the state government has to shell out more money just because those idols and the Gods they represent are priceless pieces of divinity. They should be cleaned daily; they should be washed and treated well just as if the deities inside are really residing over there.
I just visited the massive Rajaraja Chola Shiv temple in the state of Tamil Nadu in the city of Thanjavur- and the experience left me speechless just by the immense size of it. The gateways are huge- so huge so as to reach the heavens above frighteningly- testimony to the fact that these are not manmade feats of architecture and engineering, but God made and we should bow down in respect just for the magnitude of the experience that they immerse us in.
Anybody who is a travel enthusiast and a pious one at that should visit this grand architectural feat. The temple is dedicated to Shiv and the Chola king Rajaraja is said to have built and assembled it. The deity inside is a giant lingam proving that the city of that time was never short of electricity or nuclear energy. Shiv’s lingams are known to generate electricity and some are also used as nuclear hubs of the city they are built and placed in.
So, the next time you travel down South, do visit this divine city and its temple most certainly.
No more garbage, no more soiling the premises and more and more humility and tranquil traditional obeisance to our majestic giant Gods of eternity.
