The ICSE results are out and all our students are ecstatic. There are at least a few candidates who broke into the 100 marks and more league- a few years ago, when we passed the ICSEs, this would have been nearly a shock to all of us, even the top creamy layers of the board of the schools of our ICSE.
Most orthodox and progressive families in India swear by their exams- much like how they do in China- students over there keep maxing all their papers and end up with the best careers that anyone could have ever imagined. While the students in India are known to study at least a few hours daily, our generation of the past got through the toughest exams by studying just a few days before the exams were started.
I love giving exams- I love preparing for them, for longer than anyone can imagine. The most competitive exam I ever attempted was the GRE to fly abroad for a Masters in Education and Communications on completing my graduation in Chemistry and Education. My passion for the languages got me to study English Literature- and that was the first time that I tasted failure when I did not get a first class as I had anticipated. Somehow, I took the stab in the back in the right senses and as a result, I never lost sight of my objectivity or my ability to remain unaffected.
I want to take this liberty to inform all my students and followers and supporters too that nothing can substitute hard work and I urge more and more students and nearly all Indians to read and study at least 5 hours daily. This is the secret of Warren Buffet’s success and his only reason to remain and live like a trillionaire right in the midst of the world’s utter chaos and anarchy.
As the world looks up to China for its scintillating scholarship and study routines and patterns, let us Indians chalk out our own personal paths to remain studied, independent and workaholic.
