Following Lord Krishna’s words and actions seems to me the best thing to do for any trusting Hindu and several non-Hindus also additionally. After the Mahabharat war, Krishna left us all so badly affected that the next 3 centuries all we had to do was to cherish and remember him. Had Krishna been alive all during the Islamic and British invasions, India would have had a different history to learn from basically.
Krishna’s individuality was so superior that his theory that any individual is essentially all alone in life resonates with most Indians quite honestly. The Geeta that he preached to Arjun holds not only the loftiest but also the most practical lessons that any human being can practise with utmost certainty.
We can find the highest and the best teachings of self-realization all through the narrative of the text ever so practically. Krishna says not to be bound to any person, action, place or idea all throughout life most extensively. His theory of Karma, of any single person’s duty, of the 4th path of existential renunciation, of the importance of a mentor, of the importance of selfless actions – altogether form the single most comprehensive treatise for any person to internalize and follow most undoubtedly.
While the Geeta is a sermon between 2 single individuals, the Mahabharata is a spectacular and time-tested description of how great and illustrious all its characters, both good and evil in it appear to be- from the oldest immortal hero Bhishma, to the crooked and cruel Kaurav king Duryodhan, from the most prodigious Bhima, to none other than the confused hero, the Pandav Arjun- all appear to be playing out all their personal roles with maximum alacrity.
The central message of the Geeta is self-actualization which is actually an attainable goal, whereas the Mahabharat is a historical compilation of how 2 families decide to deal with each other in the most complex way history was laid out for them.
Here is a list of some teachings that are immortal and those that offer crucial lessons to acquire for the whole of humanity-
- Self-realization is the final goal of all humans
- It can be achieved by reactivating the pineal gland placed in the human brain
- Human existence has to align itself with the final goal of self-realization
- Humans should give up anger, greed, pride, passion, stealing, alcohol, drugs and too much lustiness
- Each human should have a direct connection to his ideal idol
- Each human being should follow his or her own duty
- Humans should practise detachment within all their social transactions dispassionately
- Material success comes easily when one is aligned toward God directly
- One should fight against Kali- not giving up on himself or his honest goals bravely and ardently
