Cogito Ergo Sum..

To think or not to think..

I overthink that is why I am not…

Thinking is not a very common phenomenon, most people, especially students who have to internalize everything, do not think until they reach adulthood. But Einstein quoted that education must lead students to be able to think rationally. I think therefore I am proclaimed Descartes. Many schools and colleges abroad stress on writing essays for which students do have to think, so is thinking good or bad. You can safely say that thinking is essential but over thinking and getting bogged down by your thoughts- this shouldn’t happen at all or so the shrinks tell us.

Non duality and its subject teach us that thinking should be omitted and one of the main results of meditation is a thoughtless mind. So says the Vigyan Bhairav Tantra- and nearly all of Vedantic literature. The ultimate goal of all duality and non-duality is the cessation of the mind and hence, of all thoughts and thinking.

But this is where the West beat us cruelly- they rationalized that our culture was one of thoughtlessness and so, they thought that to kill us, steal from us and cause a lot of damage to us collectively was their duty and prerogative historically. The West has no theory that cancels out thought- so they think that that makes them naturally superior to any Eastern philosophies. Either that or the fact that the West was left out of all the trophies and treasures that our excellent meditators attained for themselves caused them a lot of mental trauma and jealousy materially.

While Hinduism goes beyond thought until it reaches permanent peace, all religions of the rest of the world stop at immense worldly gain thoughtfully, and hence to their collective demise spiritually.

I think therefore I am. But when I stop overthinking, I become That or Brahman unequivocally.
